What is Machine Vision?

Lizotte Consultants has been developing vision systems for the industry for 15 years plus. These vision systems at the leading edge of technology, commercialized under the brand name LIZOTTE, digitize images, analyse them based on parameters of concern, including size, shape, colour and defects. The outcome of these analyses are manifested in control signals that actuate corresponding processes, including rejection, selection, sorting and grading. Advantages of these systems are manifold, including consistency and efficiency.

These systems include rapid analysis of the desired parameters and process as many as 2,200 items per minute. They are easily adapted to play a significant role in Total Quality Management and are applicable to the majority of the production industries.

FRANÇAIS.

Lizotte started, in 1985, as an international provider of irrigation and field drainage services.

Services were supplied to many high profile companies, such as Chiquita.

Services were supplied in countries ranging from Guatemala and Costa Rica in Central America, Tunisia in Northern Africa, to India.

In 1994 Marcel added machine vision processes and technologies to the company's services.  The first project was to sort, by size and grade, potatoes according to Agriculture Canada's specifications, including the strict grade implications of shape, harvester damage, and greening & sunburn.

Later, we developed a system using machine vision to inspect the double-overlap closure on sardine cans. Since then, we have been applying advanced machine vision algorithms, in custom designed sorters and graders, to the food and to the lumber industries where the common algorithms for strict go=no-go gauging of features do not apply.
